This paper presents and overview of the current state of cybeer-security R\&D, and a number of forward looking thoughts focusing on the challenges the community is likely to face next. The reserach ideas and organized in two categories. The first descrobes ideas that have already taken roots in the R&D community and need to be nurtured to fruition. The second descrobes ideas that are more radical and require a significant departure from current areas of investment.
